Deciding On Which of the Major Flea Control Medicines Is Right For You - Advantix Or Frontline

Prevention is always better for controlling fleas, ticks, and other bloodsuckers. The two best flea preventatives Advantix and Frontline Plus are commonly used to prevent or control flea infestations. Dealing with pest or parasite infestations is actually a multi-step course of action which could sometimes be troublesome in the event of flea and tick infestations. Ensuring that they do not come back is a challenge in itself, even if removing the fleas and ticks is an easy enough affair taken care of with a simple bath in an anti-pest bath. Virtually every pest will have likely laid eggs in your pet's living environment.

This means that every area that has been accessed by your pets will also have been accessed by ticks and fleas as well. Eliminating fleas and ticks from the environment of your pets requires a mostly mechanical process, usually with vacuums, while removing the pests from your pets is slightly easier with the variety of pet meds that are available on the market that are formulated to kill other pests as well, and not just fleas and ticks. Top 3 Flea Control Medications For Dogs are currently Frontline Plus, K9 Advantix, and Advantage Flea Control and have found favor with many pet owners.

All three pet medications are quite capable of killing 98 to 100 percent of fleas. However Advantage Flea Control isn't formulated to kill ticks as well, so it is recommended to use another product that is designed specifically for ticks. Frontline Plus has an advantage in this regard as it is able to kill both adult fleas and ticks as well as their larvae and prevent further infestation of both.

However K9 Advantix also works against mosquitoes, lice and flies, working not just on one or two, but a total of at least five pests. Being EPA-approved for use with pregnant and lactating dogs as well as with puppies that are younger and still breast-feed, Frontline also has a certain advantage.

All three of them being topical treatments, you only need to apply a small amount to the animal's fur, spreading it out in line from the neck to the tail, and then letting your pet's natural motion to spread it out the rest of the way for you. Depending on your pet's needs, anyone looking for discount pet meds need only to choose from the three.

With pregnant pets, as well as newborns under eight weeks old, these anti-infestation medications do pose a risk, even if they are largely non-toxic to both dogs and humans. With some pets, there may occur cases of skin irritation with these products. Stop the application and consult your veterinarian as soon as possible if this happens.

A certain percentage of animals treated with Frontline Plus or K9 Advantix are going to experience side effects. This doesn't mean pet owners should be afraid to use topical flea medications. The alternative is to look for an effective natural remedy, and sadly most are highly ineffective. Personally, I prefer to avoid the risks of fleas and ticks so I use K9 Advantix. Why risk it? Flea and ticks can carry deadly diseases. Would I want to risk my health or that of my pet just to say I'm going green on pet meds?
