House Cleaning Should Be Your Next Enterprise

Running your own business is what makes a lot of people smile to themselves. They know that they have what it takes and they just need to get the idea that will put it all together in a nice package. House cleaning has attracted a lot of people to it and it is not the hard work that you might think. It is critical work and it is important work, however, hard can not be attributed to it.

The basics of cleaning houses is just that, cleaning. This is something that most people do at their own homes or at work and it is a methodical, carefully planned effort. There are a few things that you need to familiarize yourself with in order to conduct this business and they can be listed easily.

Decide what kind of cleaning you want to participate in. Many cleaning companies clean only certain areas, such as Kitchen, Bathroom and the living areas. Others concentrate on those and the Bedrooms as well. Some just come in and clean a few areas and do the laundry. There are many different mom and pop type companies that will do anything that is needed to be done. All for a price.

The name for your business should command a little attention. It should sound professional and state what it is you are doing. The proper licensing for your company should be looked into and a DBA might be required in your area.

Equipment and supplies are things that many people get confused about. All that is needed are things that you already have at home. They need to be clean and serviceable and easily transportable. The very minimum that is needed for all tasks in a basic cleaning process is a bagged vacuum and several small items. A bucket, several cloths, some cleaning agents and a mop will round out the basics. Other items can be included to help with other tasks and can be purchased with the first billings.

The pricing for your new business can be determined by finding out what other cleaners in your area are charging. As seen, above, the start up costs can be fairly small so you will have a little flexibility in this area. You might take, as a budgeting number, an hourly rate and prorate all of those tasks into that. This will enable you to get a starting rate that can then be adjusted as you get more work.

Starting your business might seem like a big launch or a short fizzle. To make it a big launch, you might need to clean a couple of houses for free. There are many people in your neighborhood, who have friends in other areas of your city that can tell them about your service when you do provide value.

After the freebies and after you get your first paying customers, the work begins in earnest. Advertising is appropriate at this point and there are many community boards and some of them are on the Internet. Handouts and listings in local weekly papers will have your house cleaning business off and running.
