The Meticulous Analysis Of The Kia Magentis

Kia is seeking to make a new face in the increasingly competitive car industry, and the new Kia Magentis has an instantly recognizable face, more like Mercedes and BMW. The new tiger like grille that is also a familiar face in other Kia models is now featured in the new Magentis.

Other features of the car have also been overhauled in appearance, including the tail lights, boot lid and bumper. Brand new LED indicators on the side mirrors have also been added, along with a new back end and side sills. The interior of the car now features a contemporary instrument console and gear switching knob.

Engines are available in three options; a two liter turbo-diesel, or a 2/2.7 liter, six cylinder petrol engines, all of which are mated to a five speed auto-shifting gearbox. These engines offer impressive fuel consumption, as well as enough torque to sustain a towed load of close to 4000 pounds.

In the interior, there are now buttons conveniently placed on the wheel to operate the car stereo and adjust the cruise control. These are useful in situations where a driver wants to operate these settings, but does not want to compromise safety by having to release the wheel. A USB port is also available for connecting an iPod to the car radio. Additional features in the interior include safety belts on all seats and power widows.

The vehicle now has a suspension featuring a front strut set up and a multi-link rear damper, which insulate the occupants from occasional bumps and dips on the road. The cruise is also silky and hushed; road noise is not a problem in the Magentis. Some enthusiasts may however see this as bland, but this is not designed to roar like a V12 sports car.

For safety, the car has anti-lock brakes and an electronic stabilization program (ESP). Side airbags are also incorporated into the twin airbags, albeit in specific models. It also features an immobilizer and etched windows to avoid chances of getting stolen. It has not however been reviewed by Euro NCAP, therefore it has no rating which is useful when comparing it with similar models.

The purchase price includes a package of a 60000+ mile, five year factory warranty as well as road expenses. The manufacturer has set a maintenance interval of 900 miles, which is a thumbs-up for many owners. However, its depreciation is rather fast and it will therefore fetch a considerably meager resale amount.

In spite of the revamped look, some critics dismiss it as an unfashionable car, only ideal for a conservative conformist.

The Kia Magentis is quite practical, with a spacious boot and ideal fuel consumption. It is also cheap in comparison to other makes in its class. It will neither stand out in styling nor deliver outstanding performance, but it will be a perfect family sedan or an ideal option as a taxicab. For people who view cars as a basic means of transport, it is definitely an option for them.
