There are Many Reasons Why You Should Hide Your IP Address While Surfing the Internet

by Andrew Virender

When you go on the internet data builds up on your computer that other people can access and use for a wide range of purposes. If nothing else at all they can learn a bunch about you and much if not all of this is information you may want to keep private. They will know your name, where you live, things you have bought over the internet and internet sites you visit. To travel the web anonymously to protect your internet safety you need to be proactive.

Private data is important to most people and they wish for it to stay private, on the web and off the web. And a majority of people do not wish for others to know where they have visited on the web either. You can guard your on line privacy with little difficulty, you simply need to take the steps necessary to do so.

People do not really understand what is at stake on the internet. Many believe their credit card information can be simply stolen when in reality this almost never happens. Banks have went to extreme lengths to protect online purchases and credit card data. There are many other privacy issues people worry about when they should not because they can not happen. This misinformation keeps people from protecting their Internet privacy regarding the real issues.

A small area of code known as a cookie is left on your computer when you visit a Internet page. This piece of code enables the website to identify your computer if you would come back to that website. The only thing the cookie can disclose is that you have been to that site. But the cookie can be used to tell of all websites you have been to and any information you have put in at those websites.

All information you enter on a website is compacted in a cookie and that cookie can be read by any other website. When you are surfing you are leaving information all along the place at each site you visit. Fortunately, secure information like credit card numbers is not stored inside cookies. But plenty of non-secure information is kept and moved around by cookies.

Websites can also use internet addresses to learn some about you. Your Internet address says some things about where you are, because it says from where you're coming. But Internet addresses aren't really seen by websites, because they don't usually convey much information.

Cookies are the main culprit when it comes to privacy on the internet. You can bet that your information is spread around there at all websites that you have visited. You can turn off your cookies if this bothers you but it will make surfing more difficult because you will need to by hand input information each time you revisit a Internet page.

Web browsers are another concern because they store a list of the web pages you have been to and access to these records is simple. Others may also be able to see this information easily if they use your computer, such as family, friends and co-workers. Browsers store information you enter into Internet sites and then pop the information up onto the screen when ever you return to that site. So anyone using your computer can access that information as well. You can Surf Anonymously to keep safe your Internet Privacy by taking precautions.
