Let's face it, we are people who enjoy convenience in any way, shape or form that we can get it. We use our TV remote, rather than take the three steps required to get up and turn our TV on. We prefer the convenience of getting a cold, filtered glass of water from our fridge, rather than running to our grocery store to purchase it. Having a refrigerator with a built-in filtration system is a great convenience in that you no longer have to drink water straight from your tap, nor do you have to buy and carry heavy water bottles home from the store.

This system requires the appliance to be plumbed into the main water supply and these fridges have a built-in filtration unit which is why the water tastes so good. There may be a small amount of thought and effort required when first installing your refrigerator, but the benefits of having it far outweigh any disadvantages

Did you know that other manufacturers use the GE MWF filter for their refrigerator water filter systems? In fact, Kenmore and Hotpoint use this filter for several of their models as well. The filter is designed to remove most of the pollutants and harmful chemicals from your water. Ninety-three percent of Mercury and 96% of chlorine are removed, for example. Removing these items leaves you with a tastier and much safer glass of water. The reason that the GE MWF water filter is so effective is that it has a .5 micron Micron Rating, giving it the ability to filter out all these contaminants and compounds, but it does not remove fluoride which offers valuable protection for your teeth. The filter is designed to last long, even if you have a big family.

The flow rate of the GE MWF filter is .5 gallons per minute. This is fast enough to cope with filling a pot for cooking, rice, pasta etc, or for that quick refreshing glass of cool water. It is also a very small, compact filter, so it will take up very little valuable space in your fridge. Adapters are made to ensure that the filter works with many different makes and models of refrigerator water filtration systems.

In order to ensure you water is clean and safe, it is recommended that you change the filter, roughly 2 x a year (or once every six months). Another suggestion is to change it after about 300 gallons of water has run through it. It is extremely quick and easy to replace the cartridge requiring only a turn and pull to release the old one, and a twist to engage the replacement. Be sure to replace the filter as recommended so you are getting the best quality water available at all times.

There are other manufacturers that now make an "equal to" product to the GE MWF filter, but buyer beware. If you are concerned about saving a few dollars, spend the extra time researching these other brands to ensure that they adhere to the same strict standards. After all, this is your health we are talking about here. Spend a few minutes searching for this filter online. I can almost guarantee that you will find a much better price than driving around town to buy it. There are many places that offer this unit, which means that the competition is stiff. This generally works in your favor! The Internet is an amazing source of information. In a matter of seconds you can compare several stores prices for one item. It is fantastic how much time and money you can save by buying items on the Internet! Save time and gas and start looking around for things online before driving all over town (unless you really like to drive!)
