Unique Content Article: Smaller Equipment Means More Money

Smaller Equipment Means More Money

by Curtis Turow

Technology always makes things smaller but more efficient. Today, that is true for heavy equipment, too. Gear is getting smaller, more compact and lighter while getting more efficient and, at times, even remote-controlled. Remote machinery that simply needs supervision seems like science fiction, but it's not. This same type of technology may also improve fleet management and general farming in the near future.

Your Roswell Fleet Management and Maintenance

Smaller machines benefit farmers in some ways. The 1st and most evident benefit is that smaller machines are easier to move, store and generally service. The larger the machinery is, the more complex it is to move. The parts are heavier, and there are rather more moving parts that require maintenance. Smaller, more compact gear will be easier to maintain.

The ag gear farmers had to use years ago weighed much more than more modern equipment, which probably weigh far more than tomorrow's lighter machinery. Those heavy machines were the cause for plenty of soil compaction. With lighter machinery, tilled soil will not be recompacted as much and crop yields should improve. This can help ease the slight bother of making more passes in smaller machines, which may take a little more work. Profits from bigger yields might be definitely worth the additional field time.

The Likelihood of More Disposable Machines

Smaller machines mean that less overall fleet management will be mandatory over the course of time because it's likely that the extra time needed of smaller machines will shorten those machines lives when compared to the ag gear used today. While that might sound like a major disadvantage, it also may have it's advantages.

A smaller tractor, for instance, with a shorter lifespan can be traded in for more recent technology that will be advantageous to the farm without stress about trading in a tractor which has many years left on it. Many farmers would miss out on the more recent advancements because an older tractor appeared still reasonably good.

  1. I totally agree on that. Most especially when starting a business, if you can make use of grass roots, use it and take advantage of it as everyone is using a paid and expensive type of services to give them an instant results. My Fleet maintenance software also started from scratch and now, we are one of the well known fleet management software company in our area.
